I highly recommend using test prep services for LSAT test preparation – it is well worth the investment even if it runs into $5000 in costs and fees.
Good LSAT score means good school, which means good job after graduation, good career, and possibly $2 000 000 – $10 000 000 more money earned over lifetime. Low LSAT score may mean….crickets.
So, good LSAT course is not expense, it is an investment in the future career and earnings.
LSAC report states that only about 17% of all test takers score 160 or higher and only about 2% of 170 or higher. https://www.lsac.org/data-research/research/lsat-performance-regional-gender-and-racialethnic-breakdowns-2007-2008
The following set of LSAT test prep courses and companies is based on recommendations, reviews and research I did on the internet.
These are also good LSAT prep courses and LSAT classes offering solid and thorough LSAT courses for those who want to improve LSAT scores. This list also includes LSAT online prep courses.
Essentially, you probably will notice that most companies switch to a new self-study with guidance format which is now becoming more widespread and popular.
The times of the classroom are going away and I do feel some nostalgia about it because live classes were time-consuming but allowed to meet other people and network with them. Even for test prep. But I digress – this is definitely a more convenient format in modern days.
Magoosh LSAT prep
Magoosh offers good LSAT preparation materials and online courses.
Magoosh also has some affordable options, but I said in the previous article that one wanting to embark on a legal career and go to law school should not look for the cheapest but for the best value, even if it is an expensive option.
Magoosh distinguishes itself by time management tools that help students to keep up with the schedules and on the test itself. It offers not only LSAT but also GRE and GMAT preparation courses.
The company offers good drills for time management, which is quite important on the LSAT test, or any test for that matter.
Magoosh also offers customized learning schedules.
- Magoosh LSAT prep offers a three-month online LSAT course for only $129. That course includes more than 700 official LSAT questions and 550 answer explanation videos.
- They also offer their own practice questions and 90 video tutorials for practicing logic games for LSAT, logical reasoning for LSAT, LSAT sample writing, LSAT reading comprehension.
- Their 12-month course is only $149. Essentially, this is the same course, but you can access it for a year versus only three months. I think it is a very good LSAT prep starter package.
- They also offer a 1-month plan for $99.
But I personally think that it is better to pay $129 and enjoy three months. Or, even better, to purchase one year for only $149. Here is a visual for you:
1 month | $99 |
3 months | $129 |
12 months | $149 |
They claim a +5 score improvement guarantee premium subscription. Guarantee option requires you to submit results from a previous LSAT test, taken within less than 5 years of enrollment in their course.
Their courses are heavily based on video materials.
In this case, Magoosh does not offer actual in-person LSAT classes but rather LSAT courses online. Magoosh LSAT prep online courses are not as comprehensive as maybe some other companies offer.
But Magoosh LSAT prep courses are offered online only, are very affordable, and are easily accessible from anywhere and anytime 24/7.
They offer email assistance by tutors if you are stuck in the process. Their program works on PC, MAC, and iOS. Essentially, this is probably one of the least expensive LSAT prep options out there.
Some of their students got into Yale law school, Stanford law school and Harvard University law school, as well as in other top schools like Columbia law school.
Well, I think each of the courses I have mentioned has graduates who went to top schools.
Do you like to study on your own, at your own pace? Essentially, Magoosh is another self-study on the steroids option.
They do have a 7-day trial, and they accept foreign credit cards as well.
They do offer free LSAT test preparation accounts for students who qualified for LSAC fee waiver.
Magoosh LSAT prep also created two weeks, one month, two months and three months LSAT study schedule for its subscribers.
By the way, from the Magoosh blog I found out that starting 2008 LSAC also offers LSAT in India for Indian students who wish to attend law school, well, in India. I think Magoosh has some courses for that too.
The content is easy to use and was designed not to be too complicated. Obviously LSAT is complicated on its own, therefore, it is important that such online resources are easily and intuitively accessible to subscribers.
With Magoosh and a few other online test prep courses I have mentioned in this and in the previous articles, it is easy to, for example, a study in 20-minute increments between work or travel. Better to study 20 minutes each day than not to study at all.
Although Magoosh has less real-life official LSAT practice questions, and a limited volume of resources generally, it makes up for it by its low cost.
Therefore, Magoosh gets my thumbs up for offering good value to students for the money spent. Granted, this is a kind of self-study site with guidance, but the price is really affordable and provides plenty of content for those who have sufficient self-discipline to study on their own.
After you do Magoosh, you may go on to the next more expensive and fuller course with tons of materials, and you already will be semi-prepared and familiar with the material.
The Manhattan Prep LSAT courses
The Manhattan Prep is another brand name in the world of LSAT test preparation courses and classes.
The company offers courses for already knowledgeable students through its intensive program. They also have top LSAT scoring instructors who scored in the top 1% of LSAT test-takers.
The company offers in-class sessions. Before the in-class session, like in law school, a student must review video materials to have a benefit of the classroom session taught by LSAT instructor.
In-class sessions are where the difficult part of the material gets worked on because students already are prepared after watching videos at home. Class sizes are limited to ensure better interaction between student and instructor for overall better learning.
The students get the following through the live instruction:
- 30 hours of classroom instruction over the course of 10 sessions
- Access to the company’s tools to build foundational knowledge which consists of 50+ hours of video lessons.
- A 3-hour review course to refresh memory a week before the actual LSAT exam is taken by the student.
Just good stuff.
The students also can get the following through on-demand video lessons:
- 60+ hours of video lessons, challenge questions and homework explanations.
- A student can stop, skip or repeat any lesson at his or her convenience.
- Lessons can be viewed on a computer, tablet, and mobile device.
They also offer LSAT Navigator to score tests and analyze results for a better understanding of the strength and weaknesses of each individual student.
They have their own forums for students only.
They have access to every exam released by LSAC – for download and analysis.
Other video lessons are specifically tailored. As usual for LSAT prep courses online Manhattan prep offers training for logical reasoning, logic games and reading comprehension.
In addition to everything mentioned above, they have 10 actual official LSAT prep tests and 10 new official LSAT prep tests designed to enhance comprehensive reading skills.
They also claim to integrate into their program the learning science methods, which supposed to enhance learning and improve test-taking skills of students. I do not think any other company offers that.
At least, I did not see that other LSAT test prep companies would specifically mention that on their websites in a conspicuous manner (legal jargon which means visually openly and clearly located somewhere on their web-site, as opposite to fin print – small font, no one can see anything that is written there).
They have a certain flexibility in class attendance – some courses meet once a week and others meet 2-3 times a week. All courses cover the same curriculum, but different scheduling options are designed to accommodate students with various levels of business. So, those who work full time could attend too.
They say there will be 10 to 15 hours of homework assigned between class sessions and that is a lot. I think this makes it also somewhat self-study, but with the ability to interact with the instructor in a live mode, unlike what they offer at Magoosh.
This is similar to law school, by the way. In law school you essentially self-study and then you review homework material in the classroom with the professor. In fact, I think this will be better than law school – in law school, professors sometimes do not do a good job teaching.
Magoosh offers really two courses for LSAT training.
A complete course with 30 hours of instruction, every LSAT, etc. | Starting at $1399 |
A complete course plus coaching is the same except with additional two 1 hour coaching sessions 1-on-1 | Starting at $1699 |
Materials will be shipped to you once you join the course and you must pay before class session one.
The cons are also that you would have to extend access to materials for a fee, once the course is over.
Overall this is also a good course. It is also more advanced than, for example, the LSAT course offered by Magoosh.
Blueprint LSAT Online Course https://blueprintprep.com/lsat
Blueprint is a slightly lesser-known LSAT online prep course but it is not new – it was created in about 2005. Nevertheless, it is used by many students each year for LSAT prep online.
Like other best LSAT prep companies, Blueprint offers its courses over a computer, tablets or mobile devices. It also has top instructors who scored in the 98th percentile on LSAT. Notice the difference – these guys accept 98th percentile instructors into their team. Still, such a score is much better than what most of the test-takers can get on LSAT.
They offer video lessons and animations, answer explanations and online instructors who are ready to answer your questions. Before they can teach, their instructors must spend 100 hours in training on Blueprint’s methods.
The Blueprint also offers a score improvement money-back guarantee. On their website, they have detailed numbers of how their students improve LSAT scores. For example,
- 89% of their students increase the score for up to 5 points.
- 57% of their students improve their score for up to 10%.
- 23% of students improve score up to 15 points.
- 50% of students obtain a score of 160 and higher.
- 27% of 165 or higher.
- 12% of 170 and higher.
On their website, they claim that Blueprint’s students are 6 times more to get a 170+ than the typical test taker. Well, I think that includes people who do not take the LSAT preparation course.
Blueprint has the following LSAT prep course options:
Online anytime | – Video lessons from 99th percentile scoring instructors; – Some instructors scored 178-180 on LSAT – 85 actual LSAT practice exams – Live help |
3 months $699 ($233/mo) 6 months $999 ($166/mo) 12 months $1499 ($125/mo) |
Live online | – Online course taught live by an expert instructor with 98th percentile LSAT score Instructors who scored 170 or more – 85 actual LSAT practice exams – Average 11 point score increase |
$1399 |
Classroom | – Personalized, face-to-face classroom experience; – Taught by an expert instructor with 98th percentile LSAT score – Instructors who scored 170 or more on the LSAT test exam – 85 actual LSAT practice exams – Access to more than 8500 real LSAT questions – Some students increased their score 15+ |
$1699 |
Tutoring | – One-on-one tutoring – Personalized study plan – Plus enrollment in the online course – 10+ practice LSAT exams – Live online help 6 days a week |
16 hours $2160 24 hours $3000 40 hours $5000 |
Of all the websites by prep companies that I have seen, I think Blueprint has some of the most plenty of useful information about their courses.
Their live LSAT online prep course includes interactive lessons, regular quick assessments to check comprehension, smart homework that adapts to your skill level, customized LSAT practice tests, score analysis providing the feedback on your progress.
It also includes free online review sessions – 2 hours each – where LSAT experts take students over specialized topics or concepts depending on each individual student’s strengths and weaknesses. The number of sessions is unlimited – a great deal in my opinion.
Students can try to live online proctored exams under conditions similar to the actual test. Then they receive answers with explanations of right or wrong answers.
The online program is written by Blueprint’s founders who scored in the 99th percentile on LSAT.
Their live online program allows for attendance flexibility. Each live session is 2 hours, and students have access to those live sessions 6 days a week. A student must complete 4 practice exams, complete at least 50% of their homework (slackers) and miss no more than one lesson, and then they can take advantage of the score guarantee program.
Within three months of completing the course, you show the staff your official LSAC score report. If you don’t score higher on the official test than you did on your first practice exam, you can either repeat the course for free or receive a full refund.
The classroom course includes 4 in-class practice tests, which is very similar to the actual LSAT test. That is one benefit I think stands out because you need to feel the same conditions that will be on exam so that you be familiar with what to expect and could easily focus on the exam.
Although I personally had too many live classes in my lifetime, I think live classroom experience is still the best learning and networking experience, complemented by intensive home learning. Actually, the other way around – home learning, with subsequent classroom sessions, where I could ask questions.
Finally, LSAT tutoring is not cheap, but tutoring is probably still the best way to learn anything. One-on-one interaction elevates our learning abilities as humans. That is how I learned math well in high school – my mother hired a tutor for me. I learned it to a point where in 9th grade of school I tutored one college physics student on math simply because my tutor covered extra topics with me.
Blueprint boasts that they can have students increase LSAT core by 11 points on average. Results may vary, of course. They provide a very good explanation of why 11 points make a huge difference in law school admissions and future careers.
LSAT score 151 gets a student into law school ranked 120 in the country – third tier. Add 11 points, and the score is 162, which can put a student into law school ranked 30 – top 30 law school. See the difference?
This increase can make a huge difference in job opportunities after graduation. This company also looks like a good option.
7Sage LSAT Courses https://7sage.com/
The 7Sage does a LOT in the world of law school preparation. It does admissions consulting, maintains very useful web-site with lots of data, including student rankings and admissions assessment tools. Therefore, it totally deserves a spot on the list of LSAT prep courses.
They also claim the average 11 point improvement. Apparently, 11 points increase is some kind of industry-standard these days.
They also offer a score guarantee – if you are not happy with your score, you may extend your subscription for free until the next LSAT exam. Well, considering that LSAT is administered about 7 times per year, this is not a huge extension. But, it is free.
7Sage LSAT courses were developed by Harvard Law School graduates, and thousands of students used 7Sage for LSAT preparation.
7Sage has a 14-days money-back guarantee. They even have some free videos for potential students to try before buying a subscription.
Their courses are generally affordable in comparison to some other LSAT prep companies.
All courses, even cheaper ones, include their main LSAT curriculum of LSAT materials, including:
- 400 lessons about different question types and examples,
- over 50 hours of HD high-quality video tutorials,
- a personalized study plan and time management tools,

- Printable PDFs for all included LSAT and problem sets so a student can practice offline.

The difference between courses is as follows

You can upgrade your course any time by paying the difference. But upgrading only gives you +1 month of access per upgrade level.
About 50,000 students used 7Sage for their LSAT training when studying for the LSAT exam. 7Sage foes really good marketing and offers lots of free tools for law school admissions, therefore, they have built their reputation.
As you can see, they offer a number of good options that allow for significant flexibility. Shall you decide to go with Sage, then definitely research their website for more information. I suggest purchasing packages higher than a starter, because those usually come with additional perks.
Alternatively, you can try several starter courses form several companies to choose what you like. Too much money? Listen, this is not the thing for which you should save money.
If I was not cheap when I prepared for LSAT, I probably could have obtained quite a high LSAT score and could have gone to the top 30 or even T14 law schools. Do not repeat my mistake and use one of the courses to increase your LSAT score.
Generally, 7Sage creates easy to understand, good quality, affordable courses compare to some other big test prep players.
I have seen testimonials and I want to give a fair warning. First of all, most companies provide true and honest testimonials by real people. Some don’t. But what to look for is a value that can be given. For example, Kaplan has a brand name, tested by time.
But players like 7Sage in order to compete create innovative ways to enter the market and grow and may offer perks and methods and pricing which brand name companies cannot match.
7Sage offers 4 different pricing levels, therefore, kudos to them. Plus, since you can upgrade if you like what they offer – the risk is lower and benefit is higher.
Powerscore LSAT Preparation powerscore.com/lsat
I should mention this company too. Powerscore makes some good LSAT preparation materials and has tons of experience training test takers for many different tests.
They also have flexible pricing.
On Demand | – 30 hours of LSAT prep video lectures from instructors who achieved 170+ LSAT score – It also has shorter video tutorials on specialized topics – Essentially, a pre-recorded version of their live online option. |
$195/month |

$395 |

$350 each of the two courses, $700 for both of them |
I have heard good things about their in-person LSAT training options.
On Demand LSAT prep online course is taught by 99th percentile scorer instructor with 10 plus years of teaching experience. He scored 171 on LSAT. 30 hours – 10 lessons. Go at your own pace. Includes the PowerScore course book designed specifically for this particular course.
Live Online Digital Course is an online live group class that allows for interaction with instructor. Plus, each lesson is recorded and you can later review class as many times as you want. This LSAT online prep course includes 30 hours of lecture and 40+ hours of live online clinic to boost your skills. This is a nice LSAT course option for takers who need more guidance and study help.
Needless to say, PowerScore also offers official LSAT tests for practice. Powerscore has good LSAT course prep materials which are quite comprehensive.
As you can see, there are many good options for LSAT classes and LSAT courses. LSAT prep courses are administered mostly online and provide great value to test takers.
The In Person course for digital LSAT preparation is one of the best. It pretty much has everything other their courses have, plus live classroom instruction, extra hours of clinic practice. You can check locations where it is held here https://www.powerscore.com/lsat/courses/full/digital/
It includes over 80 hours of classroom lectures and 40 hours of live clinics. The clinics are held once per week by top instructors and are focused on some particular LSAT topic. As far as I know, their live classroom instructors are also top LSAT scorers.
By the way, all their live courses include supplemental homework practice materials. Powerscore uses official LSAT questions.
Students have access to Powerscore’s forums online, open only to their students.
Powerscore’s advanced LSAT Logic Games OR Logical Reasoning courses offer deep training on a logical section of LSAT test. They train how to approach advanced and difficult questions. I think these courses are powerful and if you can afford them – take them.
The Accelerated Course is a full-time intensive 2 days course. This could be a good starter course or good course after you are already somewhat familiar with LSAT after you study for on your own, for example.
It includes 16 hours of classroom instruction, and 20 hours of additional on-demand lectures online. Plus, they provide comprehensive coursebook for this course. This book is NOT the same as their famous LSAT Bible book.
Personally, I do not like their website too much because some pages are hard to read. But do not let that discourage you from evaluating this company for your potential LSAT training.
Conclusion About LSAT prep Courses
These are more or lesser-known LSAT test prep companies, but all of them have some unique methods of training students for LSAT exam. So, how to study for LSAT question has an easy answer – take the course. Work hard on.
Try to take the best course that you can afford. Someday, when you are in your corner office as a partner in a law firm making good money you will be happy that you spent that extra $1000 or $2000 on an LSAT prep course.
Because you will know, that this course leads you to a better LSAT score, opened doors in better ranking law school, and opened doors of a better law firm with a better salary package after graduation.
If you are unsure, I would start with Magoosh. They have 7-day free trial – you can take advantage of that by following the link below.
